Container gardening is gaining popularity as we find less space in our yards for gardening in a traditional manner. Containers can be anything that will hold the soil for a planting and that provides drainage. From a bathtub to an old shoe to a fancy clay pot, they all work.
A major tip for container gardens is this: Water! With a limited amount of soil and hot, sunny summer days, your containers will need lots of water every day. Up to a gallon of water for a 10 inch pot per day in the summer months. Water is the major nutrient you provide to your plants. It is also the easiest, least expensive and most effective nutrient. Do all you can to provide your plants with water.
